Job descriptions

A unique position, where a scientist with advanced degrees acts as a strategic planner and coordinator under the supervision of the Forum Director. They arrange a series of academic programs such as conferences, workshops, seminars, and outreach activities in connection with the themes of the Forum.

Job duties and responsibilities

Duties include the coordination and promotion of scientific programs in liaison with scientists and various stakeholders in Japan and overseas. Additional duties may include assignments to promote international academic exchanges.

Qualifications
  • A doctoral or Ph.D. degree or equivalent.
  • An academic background in any field of Natural sciences, Engineering, Humanities, or Social sciences.
  • Besides the strong academic background, excellent written and verbal communication skills in Japanese (business level) at a scientific setting, time management ability under demanding schedule and willingness to work in a team are required.
  • We welcome highly motivated dynamic candidates who have a strong passion for bridging between scientists from diverse disciplines.

The contract is subject to the Work Rules for Fixed-Term Employees at National University Corporation Tohoku University.
* The job title on the employment contract will be “Specially Appointed Faculty (Management).”
* Positions (associate professor, lecturer, assistant professor) will be decided based on your career.
Salary and Benefits
Annual income based on the regulation of Tohoku University.
The Annual Salary System Item 3 based on the regulation of Tohoku University will be adopted.
The amount in the Annual Salary System Item 3 includes the following allowances.
Area Allowance, Bonus, Retirement Allowance, Base Pay Adjustment.
Reference salary amount (Amount: JPY)
  • Specially Appointed Associate Professor: 5,532,000*1–7,380,000
  • Specially Appointed Lecturer: 5,088,000*2–7,152,000
  • Specially Appointed Assistant Professor: 4,452,000*3–6,492,000
  • *1: Those who graduated from 4-year university and have about 13 years of experience.
  • *2: Those who graduated from 4-year university and have about 11 years of experience.
  • *3: Those who graduated from 4-year university and have about 7 years of experience.
Social Insurance
MEXT’s Mutual Aid Association [Short-term benefits (medical insurance, etc.) and Long-term benefits (pension insurance)], Employment Insurance, Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance.
