Prof. Qikun Xue Awarded China's 2023 State Preeminent Science and Technology Award

Prof. Qikun Xue, Principal Investigator at AIMR, has been awarded China’s top scientific honor, the 2023 State Preeminent Science and Technology Award. This marks a historic achievement, having the very first incumbent university president and youngest scientist ever in history to win this eminent prize.

Prof. Xue, who is currently the President of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), has achieved numerous scientific breakthroughs in condensed matter physics. His team's accomplishments include the first experimental observation of the quantum anomalous Hall effect and the discovery of interface-enhanced high-temperature superconductivity in heterostructure systems.

The award ceremony took place on Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
