The Advanced Institute for Materials Research (AIMR) at Tohoku University is seeking a technical staff member for the Safety and Health Management Office in the Research Support Division.

Qualifications We welcome applicants who have an interest in safety and health management and are motivated to work proactively.
Since necessary knowledge and procedures will be thoroughly guided after appointment, academic background, work experience, and qualifications are not required.
However, individuals with the following qualifications or experience are particularly welcome:

Welcomed qualifications (Not mandatory)
  • Health Supervisor (衛生管理者) (Class 2 or higher)
  • Hazardous Materials Officer (危険物取扱者) (Class乙or higher)

Welcomed experience (Not mandatory)
  • Experience in safety management operations at universities, research institutes, factories/plants, etc.
Content of work The successful candidate will mainly be engaged in the following duties in the Safety and Health Management Office:
  • Workplace inspections, safety and health education, and operational support for the Safety and Health Committee
  • Periodic inspection and safety verification of research equipment and laboratory facilities
  • Management of handling and administrative support for high-pressure gas, chemical substances, hazardous waste, etc.
  • Planning and implementation of disaster prevention drills, and management of hazard maps
  • Environmental conservation, preparation of various submission documents, and general administrative/clerical duties of the Safety and Health Management Office

Working hours
Prescribed working hours: 8:30–17:15 (Break: 12:00–13:00, Actual working time: 7 hours 45 minutes)
Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, and Year-end / New Year holidays (Dec 29–Jan 3)
Annual paid leave: Granted upon appointment
*If there is a difference between the university's standard grant date (January 1 of each year) and the date of appointment, the number of granted days will be adjusted accordingly.
Salary
Salary system: Annual salary system.
Annual salary: 3,500,000 to 5,000,000 JPY, determined in accordance with the university's salary regulations, taking into account academic background, work experience, etc.
Allowances: Commuting allowance and other allowances will be paid if eligibility criteria are met.
Bonus: None (Included in the annual salary amount; no separate bonus is paid).
Retirement allowance: None (Included in the annual salary amount; no separate retirement allowance is paid).
