[3/3] Special Lecture “Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Prizes” ―How to Select Nobel Laureates: Insights from a Committee Member―
The Advanced Institute for Materials Research (WPI-AIMR) at Tohoku University will host a special lecture on the Nobel Prize titled “Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Prizes,” delivered by Professor Eva Olsson of Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.
Professor Olsson has made outstanding contributions to advanced materials analysis through electron microscopy. She has been a member of the Physics Section of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences since 2011 and served as Chair of the Nobel Prize Committee for Physics in 2023.
In this lecture, Professor Olsson will present a short history of Alfred Nobel and the establishment of the five Nobel Prizes, and will explain the selection process, using the Nobel Prize in Physics as an example. All faculty, staff, and students affiliated with our university are welcome to attend. This lecture offers a valuable opportunity to gain insight into the Nobel Prize selection.
