10/01/2025

Prof. Jens Kehlet Nørskov of the Technical University of Denmark has been conferred the title of Tohoku University Distinguished Invited University Professor.

Prof. Nørskov is a widely renowned researcher in the fields of catalytic chemistry and materials science. Through the development of d-band theory of catalysis and the Computational Hydrogen Electrode model, he has achieved plenty of pioneering accomplishments in both theoretical and applied aspects. Furthermore, his work has dramatically advanced the understanding of catalytic reaction mechanisms, including ammonia synthesis, exerting significant international influence on both the development of fundamental science and the practical design of catalysts.

The Distinguished Invited University Professor system confers this title upon internationally renowned researchers, inviting them to engage in activities that invigorate education and research at our university. AIMR has long collaborated with Prof. Nørskov through joint research and partnerships, including with AIMR Principal Investigator, Professor Hao Li and the Tohoku University Core Research Cluster for Materials Science (CRC-MS)*. To further strengthen this collaboration, Prof. Nørskov will now join AIMR as a Tohoku University Distinguished Invited University Professor. He is expected to engage in student education through special lectures and interact with researchers in related fields.
