Prof. Motoko Kotani appointed as a member of the United Nations’ “10-Member Group”

On February 20, Prof. Motoko Kotani, Tohoku University’s executive vice president for research as well as Principal Investigator at AIMR, has been appointed as a member of the United Nations Group of Ten High-level Representatives of Civil Society, Private Sector and Scientific Community to Promote Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (10-Member-Group).

The 10-Member-Group is an expert committee comprising representatives from the civil society, private sector and scientific community. It provides advice and recommendations to the Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum). Prof. Kotani’s term will span from 2024 to 2025, making her the third Japanese individual to be elected to the 10-Member-Group since its establishment.
