Title : Geometry, super-indices and crystallographic bulk-edge correspondence

The Gohberg-Krein index theorem is manifested physically as a bulk-edge correspondence for supersymmetric spectrally-gapped Hamiltonians on a 1D chain: a “bulk winding number” equals the number of “edge zero modes”. I will explain how new, possibly mod k, index theorems may be derived by extending the physical heuristic to the crystallographic setting. Three general insights are discussed: geometry plays an important role, edges generally have more interesting symmetry than just a basic space group, and “crystallographic T-duality” exists for any space group.
