AIMR Times

Outreach Office made a presentation at ScienceDay 2012 (one of the largest science event in Sendai). Approximately 100 kids and their parents came to enjoy our lecture and experiments about rubber.

They played four songs.

Mr. Hirayama (Chief, Property Management Section of AIMR) played guiter and Mr. Yanagawa (former officer, International Academic/Research Cooperation Section of AIMR) played percussion.

It's raining. You can see the main building & laboratory building of AIMR from the rooftop of the extended education & research building.

Interface Unit organize regular lunch meeting every Thursday. Today, They talked about nano crystal, higgs boson, and various topics.

Dr. Kazuto Akagi, Dr. Natsuhiko Yoshinaga, and Dr. Masamichi Miyama gave talks about possible collaboration between
mathematical approach and materials science from their own perspectives.

Director Kotani and Prof. Tsukada visited Chinese Academy of Science to discuss with Prof. Li-Jun Wan, accompanied by Deputy Admin. Dir. Satoh, Asssit. Admin. Dir. Wagatsuma, and Mr. Oikawa.

Dr. W. Teizer (JPI at AIMR and Texas A&M University) gave a tea time talk about "Molecular studies on functional surfaces" at Combination room (5F of AIMR main building).

Dr. Miyama from the interface unit provided his recent topics at the Thursday lunch meeting at the Combination Room.

Director Kotani and Prof. Nishiura talked with Prof. Michael Freedman (Fields Medalist, Director of Microsoft Station Q).

Associate Professor Ken Nakajima gave a talk about "viscoelasticity" at the 6th HIERARCHY/INTERFACE Study Group Meeting.

The international workshop about "Structure and Dynamics of Glass" (organized by Prof. Fujita) was held on 27 - 29th June.

Slovak Academy of Sciences visited AIMR to hear about establishment of the interdisciplinary institute.

Tohoku University held the joint seminar with IMEC. Prof. Ohno, Prof. Esashi, Prof. Matsue, and Assist. Prof. Muroyama joined this seminar.
