In hydrogen science and GX-related research, our missions are as follows:
- Collaborating with domestic and international top-level researchers
- Strengthening research and its infrastructure networks
- Establishing of a comprehensive structure of cooperation with industries
BACKGROUND OF ESTABLISHMENT
With pointing out of worldwide attention to the importance of green transformation (GX), not only the prior technological developments for the effective use of hydrogen but also the establishment of scientific principle from the perspective of "fundamental science related to hydrogen (hereinafter referred to as “hydrogen science”)," will be more important in future. Even in the recent proposal from Environmental Energy Division, Research and Development Bureau, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (June 24, 2022,) clearly states the importance of Hydrogen science field, such as "Hydrogen has extremely diverse properties and, unknown territory, and for us, it is urgent to strengthen hydrogen technology through the pursuit of academic principles and human resource development. Therefore, we established the center on October 1, 2022 to implement our comprehensive fundamental research capabilities, including materials science and mathematical science, into GX-related research such as hydrogen science and next-generation energy-creating devices, as well as to strengthen collaboration with research institutions and industries inside and outside of the country.
