Successful heat energy conveyance using the magnetic waves

-Road to the development of next generation energy-saving technology for electronic information and microwave devices-

Abstract

A research group comprised of Assistant Professor Toshu An of the Institute for Materials Research at Tohoku University, Professor Eiji Saitoh of the Advanced Institute for Materials Research (AIMR) at Tohoku University (Concurrently Visiting Research Group Leader of Japan Atomic Energy Agency Advanced Science Research Center), Director General Sadamichi Maekawa of the Advanced Science Center at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency, and Lecturer Junichiro Ohe of the Toho University Faculty of Science succeeded in demonstrating the basic principle that magnetic waves (spin waves) can be used to convey thermal energy in the desired direction.
