Recruitment of a researcher (Assistant Professor)

The Advanced Institute for Materials Research (AIMR) of Tohoku University invites applications for one Assistant Professor position in cooperation with iTHEMS (Interdisciplinary Theoretical and Mathematical Sciences) of RIKEN, in the framework of AIMR–iTHEMS Cooperative Laboratory.

Requisites are strong motivation to conduct collaborative researches between mathematical science and other scientific areas, such as natural science, life science and information science. Successful applicants are expected to show exceptional potential for interdisciplinary collaborations as well as contributing to cooperative project between AIMR and iTHEMS.

Tohoku University WPI-AIMR was established on October 1, 2007 as one of the first five World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI Program) run by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

The Mathematical Science Group of AIMR has been playing an important role in the WPI program to forge strong bonds between mathematics and material sciences. Now, the Mathematical Science Group of AIMR intends to continue its activities and also to widen its scope to encompass a broader perspective of research progress.

See website of AIMR for more details of AIMR and also Mathematical science group for mathematical science group in AIMR

iTHEMS at RIKEN is an international research program to promote close collaborations among researchers from different disciplines in theoretical, mathematical and computational sciences. The ultimate goal of iTHEMS is to unravel the mystery of the Universe, matter and life, as well as to solve key problems in modern society through interdisciplinary approaches. Through the international brain circulation network, interdisciplinary schools and workshops and the daily interactions among theoretical, mathematical and computational scientists, iTHEMS aims at developing an ideal environment for young researchers to make major breakthroughs. See website of iTHEM
