Title

Insights on percolation in nanocomposites based polymers

Date

December 8 (Fri.), 2017 16:00-17:00

Venue

Combination Room, 5th floor, AIMR Main Bldg.

Abstract

We focus on nanocomposites based on polymers, consisting of an elastomeric matrix reinforced by rigid particles having different shapes and possibly electrically conductive. Through the coupling of experimental techniques, it is possible to better establish the relationships between their microstructure and their macroscopic behavior, especially when conventional observation techniques (microscopy, X-ray, etc.) do not lead to accurate conclusions. Examples will be presented, where the particle percolation drastically changes or not the macroscopic mechanical behavior. Coupling electrical conductivity and mechanical measurements allows to determine the impact of the processing step on the material microstructure.

About Tea Time Talk

AIMR’s Tea Time Talk is a kind of seminar aiming to promote exchange between world’s eminent researchers and young researchers at AIMR, held in a relaxed atmosphere at AIMR’s Friday Tea Time. The following researchers from around the world have given talks at this event so far, and participants have enjoyed discussion over a cup of tea.
